The Sonic Team assures it, after a particularly good year for its blue hedgehog, 2023 should also be very rich in content for fans of the SEGA mascot. And the studio is not only referring to the DLC planned for Sonic Frontiers.
Even if it means shocking, we will have eaten some hedgehog in 2022, and without even waiting for the end of year celebrations. Remember that at the beginning of April was released in cinemas Sonic 2 the moviebefore the video game Sonic Frontiers then the Netflix series Sonic Prime only see the light of day in the last months of the year. Ah, I hear a Sonic Origins banging on the door, please don’t make any noise while waiting for him to leave.
With Famitsu, the head of the Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka recalls what has just been said, considering quite logically that the franchise has never been so well: “Last year [NDLR : 2022 pour notre créatif du futur] was the biggest year in Sonic history, starting with the movie sequel, followed by the release of new games Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers, and the Netflix animated series Sonic Prime.”.
2023: new content for Sonic Frontiers, but not only
The boss of the studio then talks about what to expect for 2023.
“This year we are preparing a second wave that will delight fans and keep the momentum going. We’ve already announced additional content for Sonic Frontiers, but there’s plenty more to come, so stay tuned.”
This “much more” could include new LEGO releases, and regarding updates to Sonic Frontiers, remember that they will all be free and that they have even already started. Shortly before Christmas, a Festive Outfit was made available for download, bringing a little more red and yellow to the outfit of the supersonic hedgehog. The first major content will allow you to stage your favorite passages via a Photo Mode, to listen to the themes of the game through a Juke Box and to take part in new challenges. The second salvo (out of three) being scheduled for June, we can expect the first to land in the first three or four months of the year.
