Netflix puts The Witcher Blood Origin under the tree

It is therefore on December 25 that the miniseries The Witcher Blood Origin will arrive on the Netflix catalog, as a Christmas gift reserved for fans. Four episodes are thus expected, and part of the cast has already been revealed: we will find among others the actors Laurence O’Fuarain, Sophia Brown but also Michelle Yeoh, the star of Hong Kong cinema. A synopsis has also been unveiled by Netflix, detailing the stakes of this highly anticipated prequel:

All stories start somewhere. Travel back to the unexplored origins of the Continent with The Witcher: Legacy of Blood. Set in the Elvish Age, 1,200 years before the arrival of Geralt of Rivia, the prequel series feels like a tale of ancient times. You will witness the emergence of the first witcher as well as the events that led to the Conjunction of the Spheres, where monsters, humans and elves came together to form a single world.

As for those who only have eyes for Geralt’s white hair, they will still have to be patient. The third season of the series The Witcher has found a somewhat distant release horizon, since it will not arrive before the summer of 2023 on Netflix. If all this time spent outside the limits of the Continent seems far too long, its video game version should return this year. The next-gen port of The Witcher 3: Wild Huntplanned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, is still planned for 2022.
