assassin's creed

The Assassin’s Creed license has been around for 15 years now. And today, it has become a real pillar of the video game universe. As proof, Assassin’s Creed is one of the best-selling video game franchises in the world.

In October 2020, it was announced that this license developed by Ubisoft would be the subject of a live-action adaptation. This will take the form of a series that will be broadcast on Netflix. Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers for the show.

Ubisoft

Jeb Stuart, known for working on Vikings: Valhalla, will serve as showrunner for the series.

Where is the series?

After the announcement of the live-action series, the project was very discreet. It took two years to learn more about it. Indeed, according to the GameSpot site, the series was mentioned during the Ubisoft Forward.

Thus, it would have been revealed that the show would still be in its infancy. The creators of the series have indicated that it will be ” epic. » According to them, it will be “adapting video games that will mix genres. » No information has filtered on the plot of the series. His casting also remains a mystery.

Netflix, a regular at video game adaptations

This won’t be the first time Assassin’s Creed has been given a live-action adaptation. Remember, in 2016, the license was adapted into a feature film that starred Michael Fassbender. Unfortunately, the magic didn’t work and the film flopped at the box office.

In recent years, Netflix has been increasingly interested in video game adaptations. The streaming giant is, for example, behind the Castlevania and Arcane series. If these have been well received, this is not the case for all adaptations. Indeed, series like Resident Evil or The Witcher have disappointed the public.

Apart from Assassin’s Creed, Netflix is also currently working on film adaptations of video games. These include Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and BioShock. As for Ubisoft’s license, we don’t know much yet. Patience is therefore required.
