For the past few years, Disney has been dusting off its great classics. And next on his list is the cult classic Hocus Pocus, released in 1993. In the original film, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy played the Sanderson sisters, Salem’s most famous witches.
Nearly three decades after the first film, the trio are about to make their return in Hocus Pocus 2. In this feature film, the Sanderson sisters will terrorize new children in a more modern setting. This second part will also be an opportunity to learn more about their history.
The film will immerse us in their past and allow us to discover how they became witches.
A first trailer for the Sanderson sisters
Disney announced the arrival of this sequel in October 2019. At the time, very little information had leaked out about the project. We only knew that the original cast was going to return and that Doug Jones was going to take over the role of Billy Butcherson.
This year, Hocus Pocus 2 got a first teaser. Subsequently, several images of the Sanderson sisters surfaced on the web. And now, we can finally discover the first trailer for the feature film! The least we can say is that it is worth the detour.
An imminent release
Walt Disney Studios has released the first trailer for Hocus Pocus 2 on YouTube. In this one, we can see flashbacks teasing the past of the Sanderson sisters. We also see the Sanderson sisters discovering a much more modern Salem.
The trailer introduces us to new characters who will be played by Hannah Waddingham and Sam Richardson. On the other hand, we can see Billy Butcherson rise from the dead, to the delight of Hocus Pocus fans.
Hocus Pocus 2 will be released on September 30 on Disney+. Although the film has not yet been released, there are already rumors that it could see a sequel. Indeed, according to director Anne Fletcher, the end of the second part leaves the door open to a sequel. Despite these statements, the success of Hocus Pocus 2 will certainly determine the future of the franchise.
