The Japanimation industry is never short of content. Of the manga appear every year and the most promising have a good chance of being adapted into anime. The year 2022 is the perfect example with adaptations of popular manga like Blue Lock, Spy x Family and Chainsaw Man.


That said, these titles are just a drop in the vast ocean that is the manga industry. New titles are already attracting attention, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them adapted into anime one of these days.

The top 5 of the Next Manga Awards

The Next Manga Awards event was held as it always is every year in Japan. On behalf of the 2022 edition, new manga made a strong impression. This is particularly the case for Medalist. This manga, created by Tsurumaikada and published by Kodansha, managed to climb to the top spot in the printed manga category.

It is closely followed by the manga Witch Watch (Shonen Jump) by Kenta Shinohara then Akane-Banashi (Shonen Jump) by the duo Yuki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue. Also note that the third in the ranking is one of the most read Shonen Jump manga and the enthusiasm around it continues to grow.

In addition to this top three, the ranking is completed by With You and the Rain (Kodansha) by Ko Nikaido and PPPPPP (Shonen Jump) by Mapollo 3. The table is then completed by 15 other manga whose names must surely tell you something .

Mangas to watch very closely

If you’re no longer the type to only watch manga, these titles probably won’t ring a bell. That said, we should keep an eye on them, because it is not impossible that some names in this ranking will benefit in the coming months from an anime adaptation.

And if the votes are to be trusted, the top five in the standings are the most likely to qualify. However, one cannot ignore titles like Gachiakuta, which despite being ranked thirteenth, enjoys a very good rating. Kei Urana, the mangaka behind this title is only in her very first manga series as an author.

That said, she was previously mangaka Atsuhi Okubo’s assistant. You will most certainly recognize the name of the creator of Fire Force and Soul Eater. Just by taking a look at his manga, it is impossible for you to remain unmoved as the illustrations are incredible.
