A showrunner for the series Horizon Zero Dawn
This new project is part of a broader partnership that links netflix to Steve Blackman, the showrunner of the series The Umbrealla Academy. Ahead of the release of its fourth season, whose broadcast date is still awaited, Blackman signs a multi-year agreement with the streaming giant for the production of new series through its production house Irish Cowboy. Among them is Orbital, a drama set on the International Space Station, but above all an adaptation ofHorizon Zero Dawnthe PlayStation console exclusive that has sold millions of copies.
Produced in partnership with PlayStation Productions, the branch of the Japanese firm specializing in adaptations of its intellectual properties, the series Horizon Zero Dawn will take up the plot and the universe of the 2017 game. It follows the adventures of Aloy, outcast of her tribe who leaves her native village to venture into the desolate lands of a post-apocalyptic America, where technology has taken the place of natural fauna. Given the very science fiction look of Guerilla Games’ game, there is no doubt that netflix will have to put the means to transpose in a convincing way this universe rich in imposing robotic creatures.
Still in the news for PlayStation game adaptations, the series The Last of Us showed new footage in a short video teaser uploaded earlier this week. Other game transpositions are also planned, including Twisted Metal, god of war and Ghost of Tsushima.
