End clap for the second season of Only Murders in the Building! Indeed, the tenth and last episode of season 2 was broadcast on August 23 on Disney+. And as usual, the trio formed by Mabel (Selena Gomez), Oliver (Martin Short) and Charles (Steve Martin) managed to shed light on the murder of Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell).
Thus, it was discovered at the end of season 2 that Poppy White (Adina Verson), Cinda’s (Tina Fey) assistant, was the culprit. This revelation was unexpected to say the least. Indeed, until the end, the series led us on false tracks.
In an interview with Variety magazine, John Hoffman, the co-creator of the series, spoke about the end of the second season. And his confidences are quite surprising.
Who could have killed Bunny?
According to John Hoffman, there are four other characters from Only Murders in the Building who could have committed Bunny’s murder. Speaking to Variety, the co-creator of the series indicated that he had reviewed the motives for the murder that each of them could have had.
Among the characters who could have killed Bunny are Cinda, Teddy (Nathan Lane), Theo (James Caverly), and Jan (Amy Ryan). Initially, the creators of the series wanted it to be one of them so that there would be continuity between seasons 1 and 2.
John Hoffman explains his choice
In the end, their choice fell on Poppy White because Season 2 is meant to be a critique of our consumption of death-focused media. John Hoffman added that Poppy’s true identity was teased throughout Season 2.
“There is a criticism throughout the episodes of this obsessive consumption of death. This is the main reason we chose it. The series is made like this, it’s a meta commentary on what we do with these stories. It’s present in my psyche because I also had to deal with a murder mystery in my own life. »
Note that Only Murders in the Building has already been renewed for a season 3.
