House of the Dragon is the series everyone is talking about right now. For the past few months, HBO has been teasing the arrival of this Game of Thrones spin-off. This series inspired by the book Fire & Blood by George RR Martin will land on the American channel on August 21st.
The story of House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. In this series, we will discover the origins of the Targaryen family. We will also dive into the heart of the reign of the Targaryen dynasty over the Seven Kingdoms.
After months of waiting, HBO has finally unveiled the first trailer for House of the Dragon.
Meet Rhaenyra Targaryen
This trailer gives us a better look at House of the Dragon. The video mostly focuses on young Rhaenyra Targaryen. Through the images, we follow her in her quest to become the queen of Westeros and sit on the Iron Throne.
With this trailer, Game of Thrones fans who wanted to see dragons will be served. Indeed, several of them appear on the images. The trailer also focuses on the rocky relationship between Prince Daemon Targaryen and King Viserys I Targaryen.
New faces on the program
Since House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before Game of Thrones, no characters from the original series will appear in the spin-off. As we can see in the trailer, this series will welcome only new faces In the cast of the spin-off, we find Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans and Sonoya Mizuno.
Note that House of the Dragon will not be the only Game of Thrones spin-off. Indeed, it has been announced that a spin-off dedicated to Jon Snow will also see the light of day. The series Ten Thousand Ships, The Sea Snake, The Tales of Dunk and Egg and The Golden Empire are also on the program.
As of now, aside from House of the Dragon, none of these spin-offs have a release date yet.
