We already know it, but between LEGO and the world of video games is crazy love. The Danish brand is multiplying collaborations with the big names in the industry, with several sets bearing the image of Super Mario, Sonic and others marketed in recent years.
A trend launched in particular by the release of an NES set in 2020, the first console to be officially “LEGOiffied”… And we had to wait until this year to see another cult hardware receive this honor. And not just any, since it is the legendary Atari 2600.
LEGO offers the Atari 2600 in a new set
Released in 1977, the imposing console greatly contributed to the democratization of home video gaming in the United States, raising the Atari brand to one of the most important in the country. Inevitably, with such a cachet, it is logical to see theAtari 2600 arrive in brick format.
Scheduled for August 1st, the set Atari 2600 will allow nostalgics to recreate the console from 2532 parts, a beautiful baby 33 centimeters wide and 22 centimeters deep. In addition to looking damn faithful to the original console, the set also contains a small secret diorama in a hidden interior compartment, featuring a bedroom straight out of the 80s.
Logically, the set also includes the cult joysticks of theAtari 2600but also three famous game cartridges: Asteroids, Adventure and Centipede, which can be inserted in the compartment of the console. Each of its games will come with a small 3D thumbnail featuring the game’s gameplay, whether it’s a fortress or spaceships. The height of detail: the set will also contain a small cabinet for storing cartridges, for an impressive attention to detail.
Always in the news LEGO, a new set was recently announced for the Super Mario line. It features none other than Bowser, in an important 32 centimeter high replica. The release of “The Mighty Bowser” set is expected on October 1, 2022.
